We recently completed this project for a lovely family in Richmond! They chose a combination of colours for their bespoke cabinetry in our Rye range, ‘Mussel’ for the kitchen cabinetry and Mylands ‘Cornforth White’ for the banquette seating. When we asked the clients how they go to their colour choice they said, “We knew we wanted a dark blue for the working zone and a neutral for the seating zone but from there it took us ages to decide. We tested pretty much every dark blue on the market (some were too green, others black toned or too bright) before we found the little known brand of paint we chose. Mylands then colour matched the paint for us.”

The double larder unit features three oak shelves and a quartz cold shelf, for storing all the breakfast essentials. The oak spice racks on the inside of each door have been finished with nickel hardware to match the kitchen handles.

The worktops, upstands and splashback behind the range cooker are a polished quartz in ‘Pearl Jasmine’, a tumbled, grainy slab which pulls in the blue cabinetry beautifully.

All of the hardware in this kitchen, is in a timeless satin nickel finish. With a mixture of catches, pulls and knobs including our Cotswold Bun Knob which you can find in our Pantry.

A show stopping unit in this kitchen, is the bespoke kitchen dresser unit.

The lovely thing about designing a bespoke kitchen is that we can create unique pieces of furniture that are made just for you and your needs. Our client wanted a space to store drinks and display their collection of beautiful glassware, so William designed this bespoke dresser unit for them. It has painted tongue & groove panelling inside and features plain glass cabinet doors and shelving.

We asked our clients what were some things they knew they wanted in their new kitchen from the get go, they said: “The big pantry cupboard (so beautiful), the big fridge and freezer (so practical), the glass/booze cabinet with the tongue and groove back board (gorgeous) and the three separate bins. The bins were Jarvs’ pet project-we have to separate our rubbish and recycling quite carefully here so it makes bin day very easy!!”

The team really enjoyed designing, making and fitting this bespoke banquette seating. Perfect for family meals, homework after school, birthday party spreads or a glass a wine on Monday evening. Painted in Mylands ‘Cornforth White’ and dressed with large linen cushions, this is a great way to create a social hub in the kitchen and to include extra storage in the space. Two small shelves above with painted brackets are a perfect place to display cookbooks and a very important family artwork.

“The bench seating was an integral part of our design from the get-go. We love the relaxed, family nature of the seating and all the storage it gives us as well as just the look of it! I especially love the way the bench is integrated into the window sill-this is something I’ve been excited to achieve since we bought the house. We took the design to William as a fair accompli!

The shape of the room also leant itself very clearly to having two very separate zones in the kitchen-one for working (which we finished in the blue) and one for eating / relaxing (in the neutral).  We are now on the hunt for an antique oak farmhouse
table and chairs to furnish the space with-I imagine we’ll have to have one made bespoke using reclaimed timbers.”

When we asked our clients what their favourite part of their new kitchen was, they said: “The pantry and glassware cabinet. Oh, and the bench seating!”

We hope many wonderful memories are made in this Richmond family’s new kitchen.
