The Design

We recently completed this stunning bespoke kitchen for a lovely couple in Nackington! This design includes a long run of base cabinetry painted in an grey, off white colour, a large kitchen island running parallel in a luxurious, deep green colour as well as a double dresser unit featuring bi-fold doors in the same dark green.

We asked our clients why they wanted a bespoke kitchen, and what their vision was for it; they said:

“The kitchen was part of building our forever home so we wanted to get it right from the start. We felt that by having a bespoke kitchen we were able to get everything we wanted without having to compromise!

We new we really wanted a great social space but it had to be really practical for busy family life. This totally delivers on all parts, it looks amazing but has everything in it that a busy family needs, four huge bins, clever storage solutions, plenty of surface space.....oh and also the Everhot oven, this was something that we really wanted!”

The large kitchen island features a lovely overhand on the end nearest the AGA, enough for a few people to sit or huddle around while someone prepares meals; making it an incredibly social space.

The Details: Colours, Hardware Etc

The clients wanted a dark colour to compliment the hints of blue scattered around the rest of their home and a lighter colour to contrast. The long kitchen island and larder unit was painted in “Borough Market”, a deep green-blue colour, while their main run of base cabinetry was painted in “Sloane Square” an off white tone. On top of the bespoke cabinetry sits a polished quartz worktop from Silestone in the colour ‘Lagoon’.

We asked the couple what their process was when choosing colours and they said:

“Our home has influences of dark blue and teal in it already so Borough Market was quite a simple choice for our larder cupboard and island, however we wanted something lighter to contrast with our dark blue Everhot and that’s how we chose Sloane Square. We had the same worktop in our old kitchen and loved it so knew we wanted it again.”

For their hardware, a combination of polished chrome Cotswold cup pulls and Cotswold bun knobs were chosen. This finish really suits the cool toned green colour of the units and is actually not seen very often in our designs!

“The hardware was a happy Covid confusion mistake (Will & Luke will understand) and we are so pleased... my husband thought we were having satin chrome, but we have polished chrome and we think it looks great as it matches the Everhot.”

We absolutely love the three hidden, oak drawers next to the clients’ Everhot oven. Housing their spices, oils etc, it’s a very different and accessible way of storing these everyday items and makes this kitchen even more unique.

When asked about this design detail, our client said:

“Another classic bit of miscommunication between my husband and myself but a brilliant end result (thank you Luke) its great having the spices right next to where we our cooking.”

The Bifold Dresser

This beautiful double dresser unit sports bifold doors, making it easy to keep open without them getting in the way. Inside, it features three oak shelves as well as a cold shelf to match the kitchen worktop; a gorgeous white and lightly veined Quartz in ‘Lagoon’. A cold shelf is an excellent choice for areas that may see more spills from things like coffee machines, microwaves or even toaster crumbs as it is so easy to clean. Additionally, two drawers for utensils and two more cupboards sit below for storage.

We asked our clients why they wanted a dresser unit like this rather than the traditional pantry larder units seen more often, they said:

“Love this cupboard of dreams, it houses everything from our coffee machine (essential!) to dry goods mugs and everything in between. You can shut the doors and hide away our organised mess. Couldn’t live without it, we went for this style over a traditional larder as we didn’t want a really deep cupboard on that particular wall it does everything we want it too whilst looking great.”

We love to ask our clients what their favourite part of their new kitchen is. This time they said:

“We love the entire feel of the space but it has to be the island.... It’s so big it can probably be seen from space!”

On Using Herringbone

We absolutely loved working on this project and always are so humbled and grateful for the feedback our clients have for us. This time they said:

“Herringbone has been fantastic and we loved seeing our ideas come into fruition. Luke and the team totally captured how we like to live and made it a reality.”
