The Design

We recently completed this bespoke kitchen for our clients in Herne Bay. The couple chose their cabinetry to be in our Westminster range, our most traditional Shaker cabinetry door style. We have four different cabinetry ranges; you can read all about them here:

The design consists of a long run of cabinetry including a double larder unit on the end, an island running parallel, as well as a frame and additional storage for the American fridge/freezer and a luxurious glass door bar unit. The glass doors and positioning of the Bora hob on the kitchen island really make this open plan kitchen & dinning room incredibly social and large.

We love the little details like the open shelving on the seating side of the kitchen island featuring the clients books and the tongue & groove panelling on the side. It’s these small but important details that can truly transform a space.

The Bespoke Bar Unit

This piece was so much fun to work on from design to install! Painted in the same rose-y off white colour as the kitchens’ main run, it features two cupboards, a long drawer above and a double counter-top unit with glass doors, glass shelves and a cold shelf in a beautiful quartz.

The Details: Colours, Hardware & More

For their cabinetry colours, our clients went for a two toned look, painting the kitchen island a striking denim blue ‘Bond Street’ by Mylands, and an off white with a pink undertone for the rest of their kitchen units, ‘Ludgate Circus’ also my Mylands. Atop the bespoke cabinetry sits a gorgeous polished quartz from Silestone in the colour ‘Calacatta Gold’.

Using two different colours for your kitchen cabinetry has become extremely popular in the last few years, we wrote a blogpost all about two tone kitchens; you can read all about this kitchen trend here:

For their hardware, a classic and timeless combination of bars, cups and small rounded knobs were chosen, all in a gorgeous burnished brass finish, adding warmth and elegance to the kitchen. Your door hinges will always match the colour and finish of your cabinetry handles.

This absolutely stunning floor to ceiling, double larder features five long oak shelves, all wrapping round one side of the larder for maximum storage, as well as two painted spice racks on each door with brass rods for easily storing and accessing spices, oils, sauces etc.

The cutest little wine fridge sits on the end of the kitchen island, wide enough for one bottle per shelf, this may be a small appliance but the effect is great!
