Dulwich Yellow Kitchen

The Dulwich Yellow Kitchen & Utility

“We were so impressed with the quality of the units in the show room, I adore that the units and drawers look as good inside as they do outside!”

The Design

We recently completed this characterful bespoke kitchen and utility project for a lovely family near Dulwich in London. This gorgeous open plan kitchen and dining space includes a long run of floor to ceiling cabinetry units in a pale pink, a kitchen island with a hub in the same colour and lower and upper cabinetry in a gorgeous yellow tone holding the sink.

“It sounds odd to say, but I wanted a kitchen that didn’t feel too ‘kitcheny’ and I think we’ve achieved this by hiding as much as we can behind the wall of pink units. I was sure I wanted an island and for the hob, rather than the sink, to be on the island. It sounds corny, but our new extension and kitchen have completely changed the way we live as a family.”

All the bespoke cabinetry was designed in our Westminster range, a traditional shaker style cabinetry lending itself well with the sleek lines, handles and reeded glass in the yellow unit.

The Details: Colours, Handles & Bespoke Details

The colour story of this space is gentle and bright whilst also trendy and unique with a soft pink for the tall run of cabinetry and island contrasted by the yellow on the sink unit. The brass handles & tap always give an additional touch of warmth and texture.

At the beginning of the tall units sits a pantry and breakfast bar. The cold shelf in the bar is perfect for hiding away all the utilities and plugs have been fitted to enable the use of essentials. The bi-fold doors not only look sleek but they are also space saving allowing for them to be open without being in the way. The floor to ceiling units offer essential storage perfect for the family’s belongings.

“I love the pantry cupboard, which houses the coffee machine, and the breakfast unit which has the toaster and bread bin inside. Because of the Quooker tap we don’t need a kettle, and the fridge, freezer and dishwasher are integrated to carry on the smooth line.”

The Bora hob with integrated extractor looks seemless and works perfectly with the simple lines of the rest of the kitchen making the kitchen incredibly functional too. The mirror splashback helps bring the outdoor inside and brings a sense of warmth and charecter to the space.

The Utility

Continuing the colour scheme the utility sits just off the kitchen with a tall unit to hide away the washer and dryer. Next to it is a sink and low cupboard to hold washing powders and essentials with the same Quartz worktop as the kitchen’s.

On Using Herringbone

“The kitchen fitters were all delightful and super easy to have around. It was so exciting to come watch the room come together – every time a section was finished the fitter would let me know so I could start filling it with our belongings, it was thrilling after 6 months without a kitchen! Communication from the fitters was excellent and they liaised with suppliers on our behalf eg for the fitting of the mirrored splashback.”
