Bespoke Cabinetry by Herringbone Kitchens in grey and blue, in Chipstead Kent

“My husband and I both knew that we wanted a Herringbone Kitchen. We have followed them on social media and dreamt of having one ourselves and didn't look at any other kitchen designers. David completely reimagined the room for us and came up with a new layout that made much more sense and allowed us to have a bigger kitchen area, with wall to floor units and even had room for a walk in pantry which we weren't expecting!

The Design

We recently completed this lovely open plan kitchen for a lovely family in South East Kent. The two-toned mid-grey and dark blue kitchen is easy on the eye and inviting.

The large island makes the kitchen a perfect social space both for everyday use and for entertaining and the main run of cabinets feature lower cabinetry with a floor to ceiling storage cupboard. At the end of the main run features a bar with two wine fridges leading you into the walk-in pantry.

“We knew from being frustrated with our existing kitchen that we wanted a bespoke one that worked well for us as a family. We loved visiting the Herringbone showroom to meet with David to discuss the kitchen design. I thought that I had a clear vision in mind but when it got down to it it turns out that I didn't! There were so many decisions to make! David really listened and gave helpful advice on things we needed guidance with and he was able to turn our ideas into our dream kitchen!”

The kitchen is designed in our Westminster Style and bespokely fitted to perfectly fit into the light space.

The Details: Colours, Hardware, Worktops Etc

This kitchen design is made for smooth and accessible living. There are so many hidden gems from storage solutions to a gorgeous floating shelf above the sink. Everything works in sync from the large island where the Bora hob is features, to easy access to the walk—in pantry and bespoke seating area.

The Quartz used throughout this kitchen as worktops and splashbacks gives a lovely sense of unity to the design too. We love how the veins in the Quartz act like a piece of art itself.

“David included so many things we would never have thought of in the design such as tall pull out drawers for oils and vinegars, a pull out draw above the bin for bin liners and even built in sections above the oven for baking trays and chopping boards. James was our main fitter. He was extremely professional and it was clear to see that he enjoys his work and takes great pride in it. We are so thrilled with what he has created for us.”

The wooden floating shelf brings another material into the kitchen and creates a sense of warmth with it’s brown and orange tones. These tones leads lovingly into the banquette seating area too. This attention to detail really brings the bespoke design to life.

The Bar

This beautiful bar features not one but two wine fridges. By being right next to the kitchen counter and the walk-in pantry the bar is in the perfect location making everyting super accessible. It also looks stunning as a piece of furniture in its own right. The glass doors display the clients’ glassware beautifully and connect the upper and lower cabinets in a really lovely way.

The cold shelf on the buttom makes it easy to clean any spillages and again it is the same Quartz used elsewhere, which connects the spaces well.

The Banquette Seat

We love this L-shaped banquette seat. It’s designed to be functional both in terms of everyday userbility but also for storage, lift the seats up and you can store anything you don’t want seen. It’s a beautiful and functional piece of furniture.

“David also added bench seating to the dining area which created more space and meant we could add cushions to give it a more cosy and comfortable feel.”

The Pantry

We love incorporating walk-in pantrys into our design, they are both beautiful and practical places to tuck away storage for the kitchen. Our client had the perfect nook for a walk in pantry area. A lower functional unit was made and above it is shelving in various heights to accommodate different items and a painted spice rack to match the rest of the pantry. It’s painted in the same deep blue that the island is painted in too.

“I love the pantry and being able to have all baking products neatly arranged in jars.”

The Utility

This utilty makes use of all the space available. It features upper and lower cabinets, shelving, space for a sink and space for a washer and dryer. The same colour of the island and walk-in pantry is continued in this space too.

David also designed a new utility room for us and, given the small size of the area we gave him to do this in, we are thrilled with how effectively laid out it is.
